Boris Vallejo is a Peruvian-American artist known for his fantasy and science fiction illustrations. He was born on January 8, 1941 in Lima, Peru, and grew up in an artistic family. Vallejo studied at the National School of Fine Arts in Lima before moving to the United States.
Vallejo is particularly known for his work on book covers, magazines, and posters. His style features detailed, realistic drawings of fantastical and mythological figures, often in heroic poses. His illustrations have been featured on the covers of many popular fantasy and science fiction novels, including Robert E. Howard’s Conan series and Piers Anthony’s Xanth series.
Over the years, Vallejo has received numerous awards and accolades for his work, including the Spectrum Grand Master Award and the World Fantasy Award. His work has also influenced other artists and contributed to the popularity of the fantasy and science fiction genres.
Vallejo currently lives in Allentown, Pennsylvania, with his wife and fellow artist Julie Bell. Together, they have published several books and collaborated on various projects.
