Arantza Sestayo (San Sebastián, Guipúzcoa, Spain) Spanish painter and illustrator.
Her career ranges from realistic illustration (Heavy Metal, Rebel Ink or SQP, USA) to children’s illustration (Psago Prinsessan Sweden) or comics (Rooie Oortjes Belgium).
In Spain, she has published Besos Malditos with Norma Editorial and participated in Midnight (Dibbuks), Duende (Ayuntamiento de Castellón) or Vampiros y Reinas de la ilustración española (Norma Cómics).
Her work was present in Expocomic (Madrid), Ficomic (Barcelona), Cavacon (Italy), San Sebastian Horror Film Festival, Illuxcon (Reading) or New York Comic Con, and in publications like Spectrum, Art Renewal Center or Infected By Art.
Some of her work was on the cover of Penguin Random House, and she collaborated on HarperCollins Publisher’s “Game of Thrones 20th anniversary” special issue.
Four of her illustrations were published in the 20th anniversary edition of George R. R. Martin’s Game of Thrones.
Her work is influenced by Pre-Raphaelite and Art Nouveau painting, and her current focus is on realistic fantasy illustration inspired by classic children’s stories.
